Derick Hancock grew up in Cicero, Indiana, where his love for playgrounds began. As a child, he particularly enjoyed climbing walls and monkey bars, activities that fueled his passion for playground design. With nearly a decade of experience at NVB Playgrounds, Derick has honed his skills in creative problem-solving, striving to fit the maximum amount of play into limited spaces. His favorite aspect of designing playgrounds is the process of adjusting layouts and components to meet customer needs, ensuring each playground is both fun and functional.

Certified as a CPSI for 8 years, Derick's expertise in safety standards significantly enhances his design process. He approaches each project with intentionality, ensuring that the playground equipment not only adheres to guidelines but also maximizes play value. In his free time, Derick enjoys playing video games and board games, watching movies, rock climbing, and spending quality time with his family.
